Barbara - Lead Vocals

Barbara Tobler is a versatile, dynamic singer and performer, who is known for her ability to sing in different styles and languages including classical, jazz, broadway, pop and rock. Barbara found her roots in opera after winning the Austrian American Society Vocal Competition, sending her to live and study at the prestigious Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. From there she went on to sing in popular well-known opera houses in Italy and Germany, eventually landing in Switzerland where she was under contract with the St. Gallen Opern for four years. Upon returning to the United States, Barbara went on to receive her Master's Degree in Vocal Performance, and continued to sing lead roles in opera and musical theater up and down the eastern United States. After moving to San Diego, Barbara took an interest in singing other styles of music and began singing for corporate entertainment companies and touring in her French song inspired cabaret show called 'Chant du Coeur'. She went on to form a trio called Lyriphon, featuring two virtuosic Brazilian guitarists, specializing in light jazz and samba, and she is currently the lead singer of the psychedelic-rock blues band, Crimson Coil. In addition to her continued successful singing career, Barbara has established herself as a sought after vocal coach in San Diego and the surrounding areas. She has studios in downtown San Diego and Carlsbad, California.

James - Bass and Vocals

James has played acoustic guitar for 40 years almost exclusively, and loves fingerstyle playing.  James is influenced by music from artists such as Michael Hedges, Phil Keaggy, and Mark Knopfler.  James has always loved classic rock and blues and bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.  He never played in high school bands but did play in church folk groups because, as everyone knows, they rock too.  Around 2015, James picked up the electric guitar and a little more recently the bass, and that gave him 3x the gear to spend all of his money on.  His neighbors may not appreciate that so much!  He loves every minute with his friends playing music and being part of Crimson Coil.

Greg - Keyboards and Vocals

Greg is a multi-instrumentalist and the lead sound guy for the band. His playing days have taken him through several bands and many instruments including bass and keyboards for Crimson Coil.

Dan - Drums and Percussion

Dan started in music with the violin at age six. By high school he realized the violin was not very cool and switched over to the drums. He has played in various rock bands as well as jazz trios over the past 30+ years. His musical influences are varied but he's always been a classic rock guy and feels right at home with Crimson Coil.

Michael - Lead Guitar and Vocals

Michael's passion for guitar started young and carried him through a degree in music. He has played and performed all over Southern California in several bands, through varying styles, and many hairdos! His most recent experience has seen Michael play Surf Rock, Classic Rock, Blues, and even a little country. With influences from Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore and Steve Morse, Gary Hoey, Joe Bonamassa, and shredders Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, Michael brings the heat, power and searing melodic lines to the Crimson Coil guitar.
